Suzanne P. Calfee
10/30/1967 - 03/03/2019

Suzanne Patrice (Conrad) Calfee, born October 30, 1967, died peacefully in her sleep on March 3, 2019. She was 51 years old. Suzanne lived in Boca Raton, Florida with her devoted husband Jim Calfee near the ocean beaches that she loved to visit. Suzanne was the daughter of Donald J. Conrad and was preceded in death by her mother, Patricia A. (Lawrence) Conrad. She was stepdaughter to Pat (Worley) Conrad. Suzanne graduated from Delone Catholic High School in 1985 and subsequently earned her Bachelor of Arts in Labor Studies & Industrial Relations from Penn State University. Suzanne was forever Penn State Proud, often sporting the blue and white of her Nittany Lions. Professionally, Suzanne started in an entry level retail position at Montgomery Ward and rose through the ranks of various companies until becoming the Senior Vice President for Human Resources at Kaplan Higher Education in Fort Lauderdale. Throughout her life, Suzanne loved to sing. Early on, she was a cantor at Annunciation B.V.M. church, and she continued to sing as an adult performing karaoke whenever she had the chance. Suzanne was also an avid animal lover who doted on her French bulldogs Nova and Shasta. Suzanne could light up any room she walked into with her big smile, bright eyes and positive attitude. That positive attitude remained with her to the end as she faced her biggest challenge. Suzanne will be missed dearly by all who knew her. Suzanne is survived by 6 siblings, Joe Conrad and wife Kathy, Den Conrad and wife Carolyn “Cubby”, Rick Conrad and wife Laura, Andy Conrad and wife Deb, Kathy (Conrad) Bealing and husband Brad, Nick Conrad and wife Sharron. Suzanne is also survived by 14 nieces and nephews as well as 10 great nieces and nephews. Suzanne had a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, as well as close friends and a workplace “family”. She was well loved by many and is deeply mourned in her passing. A graveside service for the immediate family will be held at 11:00 a.m. on March 9, 2019 at Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Cemetery in McSherrystown, PA. Extended family and friends will be invited to a memorial celebration of Suzanne’s life at a date and place to be determined. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Suzanne’s name to the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance (https://ocrahope.org/).

There are no words to express the void felt within our souls when Zanne left us. Zanne my best friend, my soul sister. Her incredible light will be missed in this world. We can only hope to fill the void with the memories we have where Zanne's spirit will live forever. All our love goes out to Jim, Dad and Pat, Joe and Kathy, Denny and Cubby, Rick and Laura, Andy and Deb, Kath and Brad, and Nick and Sharron.

To the Conrad Family. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Remembering Pat and her courage who, no doubt, blessed her daughter with the same deep courage at facing the fears and losses of cancer. May you all be comforted by Faith and friends. Hugs. Carla and Mike Staub

I came on board with Kaplan around the same time as Suzanne. She was one of the people that always made me happy when she entered the room. I'm glad I had the chance to meet such a smart, wonderful, and kind person. My heart goes out to her entire family.

Suzanne was an incredibly genuine person who took a real interest in people. I was always happier when she popped up at the Chicago offices, and while I only got to spend time with her a few times a year - I was always grateful for those opportunities. She had a warm smile, an unbridled laugh, and a beautiful perspective on life. I will miss you Suzanne, congratulations on a life well lived.

Suzanne possessed a spirit and soul that will live on for all of us who were blessed to know her and work with her. Working with Suzanne periodically through the years at KHE and watching her work from a far, I knew one thing. If Suzanne was on the job, everything would be just fine. Five years ago, I faced my own health challenges and had to step away from a project Suzanne was leading. She was amazingly supportive as she was with everyone. I hope she felt how much that love and support was returned 10 fold to her. A candle will be lit and a prayer said for Suzanne, her family and friends, and everyone who loved her. Rest well. "May flights of angels sign thee to thy rest."

To my nephew Jim and all Suzanne's family. Our hearts are filled with grief and yet know how hard Suzanne fought her disease. She fought the good fight, finished the race and kept the faith. I am sure the good Lord has welcomed her home. She is an angel there and we have lost an angel. She was Jimmy's soulmate. We love you and prayers are said for you. Aunt Sara and Uncle John

To the Conrad Family, I am so deeply sorry for your loved one, Suzanne, untimely death. Just too young. She was a good fighter and fought the good fight courageously and bravely. Cancer, especially Ovarian, is a harsh cancer but she tried her best. I may have met her a couple of times, especially if she was at Relay. She was a loving and caring person and will be missed by all. None of us know when or how we will meet the Almighty but I do know this, that her time on earth was well spent. Great job good and faithful servant. She is now in God's loving arms and looking and smiling down on each and every one of you. May God be with you at this time. With Deepest Sympathy, Kim

I am so incredibly saddened by Suzanne's passing. Smart, funny, professional, engaging, warm hearted and kind, Suzanne had a profound effect on my time at Kaplan. More than a "Boss", Suzanne was a talented negotiator who always left me feeling that the solution was a shared collaboration between equals. Although I hadn't seen or talked to her in a few years, this hit me hard and I pray that Jim and the whole Conrad family will find peace and comfort in knowing that she is serving at the right hand of the greatest "Boss" known to mankind: Jesus Christ.

Suzanne was a great friend and neighbor for many years. She was always fun to be around as her smile and great attitude were contagious. We loved spending holidays and the superbowl with her, Jim and all the great Neighbors at Lawrence Lake. The love that Suzanne and Jim shared was unmatched and was a benchmark for those around them. She we always be remembered. We are so fortunate to have been part of her life.
