Kenneth D. Rife
05/12/1957 - 01/19/2019

Kenneth D. “Kenn” Rife, 61, of Hanover, entered eternal life in the presence of his family on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at his home. He was the husband of Danya J. (Livelsberger) Rife with whom he shared 43 years of marriage. Born May 12, 1957 in Adams county, he was the son of the late Edgar and Lena (Noel) Rife. Kenn previously worked at L&M Pontiac and Gene Latta Ford, but most recently was employed for 15 years as a fleet manager at Martin Snacks, Thomasville. He very often joked with his family that all he wanted on his tombstone was “work… that’s what he did”. All that knew him can attest to that strong work ethic. Kenn attended New Oxford High School, and graduated from York VoTech’s automotive technology program. He was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, NASCAR, sprint car racing, and music, especially country. He was also an animal lover, and enjoyed spending time with his canine companion, Rudy. Surviving, in addition to his wife, is one daughter, Annette M. Rife of Hanover; two sisters, Janet Bream of New Oxford and Joyce Hilker of Spring Grove; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by five siblings, William, Donald, James, and Charles Rife, and Joann Menges. A gathering of friends and family will be held 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 24, 2019 at Murphy Funeral Home, 501 Ridge Ave., McSherrystown. Burial will be private. Contributions in memory of Kenneth may be made to York County SPCA, 3159 Susquehanna Trail, York PA 17406 or VNA/Hospice, 440 N. Madison St., Hanover, PA 17331.

Danya and Annette im praying for comfort and peace for you. It's been my pleasure and a great opportunity to work beside Ken for the last 11 years. Ken was a great teacher/mentor not only when it came to fixing cars and trucks but but when it came to life as well. I must asked him a million and one questions in 11 years not only about cars and trucks but probably more about life in general and he always listened and gave me honest answers. He must of had infinite patience! I could never say thank you enough. Rest easy my friend. Bob Helt.
