George R. Chronister Jr.

George R. “Bob” Chronister Jr., 76, of New Oxford passed away on Friday, December 28, 2018 at UPMC Pinnacle-Hanover. He was the husband of Angela S. (Staub) Chronister to whom he was married 56 years.  Born June 10, 1942 in York, he was the son of the late George R. and Minnie Viola (Bankert) Chronister.  George was a retired truck driver and worked at Manley Valve in York. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, New Oxford and a life member of McSherrystown Home Assoc., New Oxford Social Club, New Oxford Fire Co, McSherrystown Moose and AARP. He was a former member of ABATE (American Bikers Aimed Toward Education).  Surviving in addition to his wife are six children; Robert Chronister and wife Debbie of York, George Chronister and wife Karen of Dover, Beverly Wolford and husband Steven of Littlestown, Susan Fleshman of East Berlin, Anita Emlet and husband Wesley of Orrtanna and Kim Burgoon and fiancé Donald Cooper of New Oxford; 20 grandchildren; 10 step grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 4, 2019 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, New Oxford with Rev. Michael Letteer as celebrant. Burial will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Friends and relatives will be received Thursday 6 to 8 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home, 501 Ridge Avenue, McSherrystown, with prayers at 8 p.m.
