Marlene A. Aumen, 82, of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at the Brethren Home Community, New Oxford. She was the loving wife of Thomas M. Aumen, who died October 14, 2016. Born January 6, 1936 in McSherrystown, she was the daughter of the late Guy and Genevieve (Strausbaugh) Groft. Marlene was a 1954 graduate of Delone Catholic High School, and a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Hanover. She enjoyed playing BINGO, and spending time with her family, friends, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Marlene is survived by three children; Michael Aumen and wife Jillian of McSherrystown, Steven Aumen and wife Rhonda of Hanover, and Mark Aumen and wife Tammy of New Oxford; eight grandchildren, Courtney Descheemaker and husband Bryant, Kirstie Smith and husband Mark, Chelsea Boyde and husband Adam, and Thomas, Tanner, Nicholas, Nathan, and Nolan Aumen; and three great-grandchildren, Clara Descheemaker, Cole Boyde, and Mark Smith V; three siblings, Doris Staub of Hanover, Mary Louise May of McSherrystown, and Grace Buffington of New Oxford. She was preceded in death by six siblings, James, Raymond, Francis, and Richard Groft, Helen Higinbotham, and Janet Smith. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at St. Vincent Catholic Church, 220 Third Street, Hanover with Rev. Michael P. Reid II as celebrant. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hanover. Friends and relatives will be received Monday, 6 to 8 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home, 501 Ridge Avenue, McSherrystown with prayers at 8 p.m. Contributions in memory of Marlene can be made to the American Breast Cancer Foundation, 10400 Little Patuxent Pkwy #480, Columbia, MD 21044.
