Franklin D. Reichart

Franklin D. Reichart, 84, of New Oxford, passed away on Friday, November 16, 2018 at the Brethren Home Community, New Oxford. He was the husband of Ann L. (LeGore) Reichart who died October 17, 1991, and Prudence R. (Aliminosa) Reichart, of New Oxford. Born February 3, 1934 in Hanover, he was the son of the late Chester and Roxy (Bechtel) Reichart. Frank retired as an electrical foreman from the Hanover Quarry, formerly Bethlehem Steel in Hanover. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict, stationed in Germany. He was a member of the New Oxford Social Club, McSherrystown Home Association, Hanover AMVETS, and Adams County Water Garden Club. Frank enjoyed gardening, raising Koi in his ponds, going to auctions, tinkering with various projects, and was a master woodworker. He also enjoyed spending time and sharing life and family experiences with family and friends. Surviving in addition to his wife are three children, Michael D. Reichart and wife Joni, Debra R. Hartlaub and husband Tim all of New Oxford, and Kimberly A. Zinn and husband Steve of Hanover; three step-children, Thomas Smith of Brooklyn NY, Andrew Smith and wife Joan of Spring Grove, and Joel Smith and wife Angela of Washington D.C.; four grandchildren, Tiffany M. and Treva Danielle Hartlaub, and Courtney A. and Bethany A. Zinn; and two step-grandchildren, Ali Marie and Derek Smith. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Earl, Lester, Merle, and Ralph Reichart; three sisters, Romaine “Blondie” Lentz, Kathleen “Kas” Hoove Berkheimer, and Mildred Richter; and two infant siblings, Sterling and Thelma Reichart. A time to share with the family will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at Murphy Funeral Home, 501 Ridge Avenue, McSherrystown. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet cemetery, with military honors provided by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard. Friends and relatives will be received Tuesday 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Contributions in memory of Franklin may be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, 1513 Cedar Cliff Drive, Camp Hill, PA 17011.
