Norman J. McKim
09/19/1939 - 10/27/2018

Norman J. McKim, 79, of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at UPMC Pinnacle-Hanover Hospital. He was the husband of Bonnie M. (Wagner) McKim to whom he was married 32 years.   Born September 19, 1939 in Irishtown, he was the son of the late Joseph E. and Florence E. (Rickrode) McKim.  Norm retired from Gettle Inc. in York as an electrician. He was at 1957 graduate of Delone Catholic High School, McSherrystown and proudly served in the Army during the Vietnam Era. Norm was a life member of the McSherrystown Home Assoc., Hanover Home Assoc. and the New Oxford Social Club. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed hunting and the outdoors, especially cutting the lawn and shoveling snow.  Surviving in addition to his wife are six step children, Kevin, Timothy, Brian and Erich Arndt all of Hanover, Karl Arndt of East Berlin and David Arndt of Spring Grove; fifteen step grandchildren and ten step-greatgrandchildren; three siblings, Dolores Groft of New Oxford, Helen Swope of Hanover and Gerald McKim of Gettysburg. He was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Thomas McKim. His grandson Erich Jr. will miss his grandpa immensely since he spent so much time with him.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at Murphy Funeral Home, 501 Ridge Avenue, McSherrystown with Rev. Charles L. Persing officiating. Friends and relatives will be received on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be private.  Contributions in memory of Norm may be made to Autism Speaks, 1990 K. Street, NW Second Floor, Washington, DC 20006.

Norm was a kind man who was exceptionally good to and for my big sister, Bonnie. It is very sad to have him leave so soon. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.
