James J. Ryan

James J. Ryan, 81, of Hanover, passed into God’s eternal care on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at his home. He was the husband of Irene H. (Gregorek) Ryan to whom he was married 28 years. Born August 27, 1937 in Glasgow, Scotland, he was the son of the late Thomas L. and Anne Marie (Kelly) Ryan. James was retired from Sweetheart Cup Co. in Maryland with over 30 years of service. He was a member of Annunciation BVM Catholic Church, McSherrystown and previously active with Boy Scout Troop 107. James always enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandson.Surviving in addition to his wife are two children; James Ryan Jr. of York and Casey Tyransky and her husband Greg of Spring Grove and one grandson; Adam Tyransky. He was preceded in death by two brothers; Larry and John Ryan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at Annunciation BVM Catholic Church, McSherrystown with Rev. Charles L. Persing as celebrant. Burial will follow in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Dundalk, MD. Friends and relatives will be received Monday 6 to 8 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home, 501 Ridge Avenue, McSherrystown with prayers at 8 p.m. Contributions in memory of James may be made to St. Teresa of Calcutta School, 316 North St., McSherrystown, PA 17344.
