Richard A. Wierman

Richard A. Wierman, 83, of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care Friday, July 27, 2018 at UPMC Pinnacle Harrisburg. He was the husband of Patsy A. (Sentz) Wierman, to whom he was married 59 years.  Born November 4, 1934 in McSherrystown, he was the son of the late Robert J. Wierman Sr. and Grace M. (Hemler) Wierman.  Dick retired as Manager and Vice President from Menchy Music Service Inc. in Hanover, with 45 years of service. He was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church in McSherrystown, a 1952 graduate of Delone Catholic High School in McSherrystown, a member of the McSherrystown Home Assoc., McSherrystown Knights of Columbus and McSherrystown Moose. Dick was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the US Army. He enjoyed playing cards and golfing, football, baseball, the Jacksonville Jaguars and the UConn Girls Basketball. He especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends, but mostly his grandchildren. Surviving in addition to his wife are two children, Tracey Reed of Hanover and Lynne Flaherty and husband Patrick of Oakland, NJ.; four grandchildren, Dustin Reed, Kodi Reed, Shawn Flaherty and Colleen Flaherty; a sister, Rita M. Swain of Abbottstown. He will be greatly missed by his cats, Eli and Bigboy. He was preceded in death by two siblings, Robert J. Wierman Jr. and Virginia M. Williams.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at Annunciation Catholic Church, McSherrystown, with Rev. Joseph F. Gotwalt as celebrant. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard. Friends and relatives will be received Tuesday 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home, 501 Ridge Avenue, McSherrystown with prayers at 8:00 p.m.  Contributions in memory of Dick may be made to Adams Co. SPCA, 11 Goldenville Rd, Gettysburg, PA 17325.
