Helena M. Kauffman

Helena M. Kauffman, 80, of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at home with her family by her side. She was the wife of Blain L. Kauffman, who died July 16, 2017. Born October 10, 1937 in McSherrystown, she was the daughter of the late Leon and Hazel (Groft) Staub. Helena was retired from C. Robert Martin D.D.S. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hanover, a 1955 graduate of Delone Catholic High School in McSherrystown and was their first female cymbal player in the marching band and has been the coordinator of their reunions for the past 8 years. Helena enjoyed painting crafts, shopping with friends, her gal pals who shared class lunch together, driving around in the Green Duchess, and most of all gathering with her family. Surviving are five children, Blaine Kauffman II, Dain Kauffman and wife Kim, Anne Wiles and husband Ken, and Corbin Kauffman all of Hanover, and Elsa Kauffman of Sarasota, FL.; Seven grandchildren, Olivia Robinson and husband Jacob, Victoria Kauffman, Dain Kauffman II, Jeremiah, Elisabeth, Sarah and Josiah Wiles; five siblings, Kathleen Rabenstine, Teresa Atkinson and husband Mike, Dan Staub, Christine Krumrine and husband Jim and Donald Staub and wife Marie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 20, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hanover, with Rev. Matthew Morelli as celebrant. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends and relatives will be received Thursday 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home, 501 Ridge Avenue, McSherrystown with prayers at 8:00 p.m. and at the church Friday 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Serving as pallbearers will be Donald, Daniel, Matthew, and Todd Staub, Jeremiah Wiles and Brad Hartlaub. Contributions in memory of Helena may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5055 Grandview Road, Hanover, PA 17331, Delone Catholic High School, 140 S. Oxford Ave. McSherrystown, PA 17344 or VNA/Hospice, 440 N. Madison St. Hanover, PA 17331.
