Richard E. Adams, 79, of Gettysburg, entered into God’s eternal care on Friday, May 18, 2018 at the Hanover Hospital. Born, June 6, 1938, in Hanover, he was the son of the late Robert H. and Dolores C. (Lawrence) Adams. Richard was retired from G. B. Groft Excavating in Hanover after many years of service and worked part time for NAPA in Hanover. He was a member of Sacred Heart Basilica in Hanover, McSherrystown Fish & Game Assoc., SAVES, NRA, and the North American Hunting Club. Richard enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, model railroad trains and spending time with his family and friends. Surviving are three children, Anthony Adams of Conway, SC, Scott Adams of Dover and Joseph Adams and wife Brenda of New Oxford; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Gary Adams and wife Liz of Hanover. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at Murphy Funeral Home, 501 Ridge Ave., McSherrystown with Rev. Joseph R. Howard officiating. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Hanover. Friends and relatives will be received Tuesday 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Richard may be made to SAVES, 5865 Hanover Road, Hanover, PA 17331.
