Mary R. Redding, 94, of McSherrystown, entered into God’s eternal care on Saturday, April 7, 2018, at her home with her family by her side. She was the wife of Thomas B. Redding Sr. who died February 17, 1995. Born February 2, 1924 in Adams County, she was the daughter of the late Harry A. and Gertrude A. (Miller) Smith. Mary was retired from PillowTex in Hanover. She was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church in McSherrystown. Mary used her artistic talents in her sewing, crafts and cooking. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving are ten children, Mary Lou Box and husband William of Harrisburg, Edith Weaver and husband Lynn, Jane Redding, Susan Redding, and Christopher Redding and wife Imelda all of McSherrystown, Stephen Redding and wife Kathleen, Richard Redding and wife Linda, Anthony Redding and wife Deborah, daughter-in-law, Kathleen Redding all of Hanover, Anita Martin and husband Kelly of OK and Janet Loucks and husband Byron of Glenville; 21 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas B. Redding Jr., grandson, Jeremy Redding, granddaughter, Lia Loucks and seven brothers, Harry, Lewis, Wilbur, B. Guy, Joseph, Pius and Frederick Smith. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at Annunciation Catholic Church, McSherrystown with Rev. Lawrence J. McNeil as celebrant. Burial will follow in Annunciation Cemetery, McSherrystown. Friends and relatives will be received Tuesday 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home, 501 Ridge Avenue, McSherrystown with a prayer service at 8 p.m. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons. Contributions in memory of Mary may be made to Annunciation Church Memorial Fund, 26 N. Third St., McSherrystown, PA 17344 or AseraCare Hospice, 44 Bowman Rd, York, PA 17408.

My thoughts and prayers are with family and friends. She was a beautiful and sweet lady. I enjoyed talking with her at the yearly Loucks Mountain Picnics. And she made the best fudge! She will be missed greatly. Have peace knowing she is with Jesus and very happy.
