Austin A. Staub Jr.

Austin A. “Buster” Staub Jr. 71, of New Oxford, passed away peacefully with family and friends by his side on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at his home. He was the husband of Darlene M. (Felix) Staub to whom he was married 38 years. Born August 24, 1946 in Hanover, he was the son of the late Austin A. Staub Sr. and Regina (Robinson) Staub. Buster was employed for 30 years at Manley Valve in York prior to their closing and retired from R. H. Sheppard Co, Hanover. Following retirement, he worked part time at Shurfine in New Oxford. He was a 1964 graduate of Delone Catholic High School, McSherrystown and a member of Sacred Heart Basilica, Edgegrove. Buster was a member of the McSherrystown Fish and Game Assoc. and life member of New Oxford Social Club and McSherrystown K of C. He was a life member of Irishtown Fire Co where he served as past chief and New Oxford Fire Co. now known as United Hook & Ladder again serving as past president and vice president and he was currently serving as president of his deer camp, Rookie Camp Association. He was a Penn State and Orioles fan and enjoyed life to it fullest. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Surviving in addition to his wife are two children; Austin F. Staub and wife Shellie of New Freedom and Holly L. Barnes of New Oxford, two grandchildren; Dicie L. Frye and Lillie-Ann M. Staub, two sisters; Angela Chronister and husband Bob of New Oxford and Teresa Reimold and husband Donnie of Glen Rock and numerous nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Monday, January 29, 2018 at Sacred Heart Basilica, 30 Basilica Drive, Hanover with Rev. Joseph R. Howard as celebrant. Burial will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, New Oxford. Friends and relatives will be received 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Murphy Funeral Home, 501 Ridge Avenue, McSherrystown with prayers at 5 p.m. Contributions in memory of Austin may be made to Penn State Cancer Institute, 500 University Dr., Hershey, PA 17033 or Sacred Heart Basilica, 30 Basilica Dr., Hanover, PA 17331.
