Lawrence F. "Butch" Klunk

Lawrence F. “Butch” Klunk, 80, of McSherrystown, passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at his home. He was the husband of Shirley A. (Noel) Klunk who died December 23, 2011. Born January 24, 1937 in McSherrystown he was the son of the late David and Helen (Hagerman) Klunk and step son of Marie (Carbaugh) Klunk. Butch was retired from SKF Industries, Hanover. He was the owner/operator of Dad’s Dick Around Shop in McSherrystown, a lawn mower and small motor repair shop. He also delivered flowers for Pressell’s Florist, Hanover. Butch was a member of Annunciation BVM Catholic Church, McSherrystown, a life member of the McSherrystown Home Assoc. and Hanover VFW. Butch proudly served in the Army during the Korean War. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and grandchildren. Surviving are three children; Kenneth Klunk and wife Angie, Debra Zelanko and husband Gary and Kim Klunk all of Hanover, five grandchildren; Nathan, Chad and Kendra Klunk and Amy Miller and Brian Zelanko, four great-grandchildren; Kannon, Chase, Dax and Kyla Klunk and a brother; Patrick J. Klunk of Panama City, FL. He was preceded in death by a brother James A. Klunk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Friday, January 26, 2018 at Annunciation BVM Catholic Church, McSherrystown with Rev. Charles L. Persing as celebrant. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery with military honors provided by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard. Friends and relatives will be received Thursday, 6 to 8 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home, 501 Ridge Avenue, McSherrystown with prayers at 8 p.m. Contributions in memory of Butch may be made to American Cancer Society of York/Adams, Attn: Memorial, 924 Colonial Avenue, Suite N., York, PA 17403.

I knew Butch from SKF. I was the engineer in his area. My name also was Butch. He was a good GKC operator. He will be missed greatly. My condolences to the family. May God Bless your family.
