Martha M. Staub

Martha M. Staub, 87, of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Hanover Hall Nursing Center, Hanover. Born October 26, 1930 in York Co., she was the daughter of Lawrence C. and Cecelia (Smith) Staub. Martha was retired from Hanover Shoe Co. with over 47 years of service. She was a lifelong member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Hanover and a member of the church LCBA, NCCW and Legion of Mary organizations and volunteered at the parish BINGO’s and Thrift Shop. She also volunteered for many years at Hanover Hall Nursing Center. Martha was a devoted daughter, loving sister, aunt and friend. Many dear memories were made during card games. Her smile and quick wit were always a delight. Surviving are two siblings; Paul Staub of FL., and Rita Runk of McSherrystown and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by five siblings; Earl Staub, Joseph Staub, Leo Staub, Arlene Pecher and Margaret Adkins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Hanover with Rev. Michael P. Reid II as celebrant. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends and relatives will be received Monday 6 to 8 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home, 501 Ridge Ave, McSherrystown with the rosary recited at 8 p.m. Serving as pallbearers will be Tom Staub, Andy Pecher, James Staub, Anthony Staub, Richard Runk and Randy Runk. Contributions in memory of Martha may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 220 Third Street, Hanover, PA 17331.

Dear Staub family members,
Dave and I send our thoughts and prayers to you all with the passing of Aunt Martha. She was a lovely woman. I have wonderful memories of my visits with her as I grew up. I can still hear her laugh and the sound of her voice. She was very special to me.
