Thomas V. Wambach

Thomas V. Wambach, 82, of Hanover entered into God’s eternal care on Wednesday December 6, 2017 at the Hanover Hospital. Born February 14, 1935 in West Allis, WI, he was the son of the late William T. Wambach, Sr. and Julia (Cleary) Wambach. Tom was a 1957 graduate of Marquette University School of Engineering. He spent two years as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Navy. He was employed by Allis Chalmers Mfg. Co., Nuclear Power Dept., designing and operating nuclear power plants. In 1970, he joined the Atomic Energy Commission (now the Nuclear Regulatory Commission) where he retired in 1997. Tom was married to the former JoAnn Kucznnski on April 29, 1961 at St. Stanislaus Church in Shamokin, PA. Tom and JoAnn raised two sons, Thomas and Michael and three daughters, Bettina Kramer, Angela Mayo and Ellen Wambach. He also leaves eight grandchildren and one great grandson. Also surviving are one brother, William T. Wambach, Jr. and three sisters, Sr. Julie, S.S.N.D., Veronica Sudbrink and Therese Kaemmerer all of Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by brothers James Wambach and Theodore Wambach. Tom’s interests were golf, chess, classical music and watching the NFL especially the Green Bay Packers. He was a member of the VFW of Hanover and Annunciation BVM Parish in McSherrystown. Tom was very generous not only with family but numerous charities and donated time and blood every year until he became ill. He was a Eucharistic Minister for his previous church in Maryland for at least 20 years. He taught religious classes, assisted with coaching baseball and carpooled to many events. He loved his family unconditionally. Funeral arrangements are with Murphy Funeral Home, McSherrystown. Per Tom’s wishes, services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
