James N. Swisher

James N. Swisher, 76, of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care on Monday, October 9, 2017 at Transitions Healthcare in Gettysburg. He was the husband of Cora Lee (Blanchard) Swisher to whom he was married 51 years.  Born May 19, 1941 in Hanover, he was the son of the late Lester W. and Mary E. (Hershey) Swisher.  Jim was retired from the US Postal Service – Hanover Post Office and previously was employed as a police officer with the McSherrystown Borough. He was a 1959 graduate of Eichelberger High School and proudly served with the US Navy. Jim was a member of the McSherrystown Home Association and the Republican Club of Hanover. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and friends.  Surviving in addition to his wife is a son; James K. Swisher and his wife Jennifer of Hanover and a sister; Dorcas Peck and her husband Gary of Ohio. He was preceded in death by a brother; Glenn E. Swisher.  A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, October 12, 2107 at Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover with William Anderson officiating and military honors provided by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard.  Serving as pallbearers will be; Jamey Swisher, Jen Swisher, William Anderson, Jack James, Steve Henry and Dave Miller.  Contributions in memory of Jim may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675-8517.

Cora and Jamey, I have a lot of fond memories of all of us. Jim, I can only say you will be missed but mostly you won't be hurting anymore. Love all
