Yvonne A. Swartzbaugh

Yvonne A. Swartzbaugh, 81, of McSherrystown entered into God’s eternal care on Saturday, September 9, 2017, at Conestoga View Nursing Center in Lancaster. She was the wife of Clair E. Swartzbaugh who died in 2001. Born August 13, 1936 in New Oxford, she was the daughter of the late Bernard and Marie (Billman) Hockensmith. Yvonne was retired from the Hanover Shoe Co. and worked part time at McDonald’s. She was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church in McSherrystown, a former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hanover and the McSherrystown Moose. Yvonne enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. Surviving are two children, Rick Swartzbaugh and wife Bonnie of Columbia and Vicki Davis and husband Bruce of Avon Park, FL; six grandchildren, Andy Strausbaugh, Scott Swartzbaugh, Mike Link, Melissa Doremus, Bruce Davis II and Kim Nace; 12 great-grandchildren, Quinn, Brody, Avery, Cooper, Sammy, Paige, Madeline, William, Lucas, Leo, Persephone and Isabelle; five siblings, Marge Smith, Sarah Arigo, Terry Williams, Jerry Hockensmith and Dan Hockensmith. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Swartzbaugh, a granddaughter, Amy Lynn Strausbaugh, and by five siblings, Dorry Gebhart, Myrna Mowery, Fred Hockensmith, Leonard Hockensmith and Patricia Orndorff. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Friday, September 15, 2017 at Annunciation Church in McSherrystown, with Rev. Charles L. Persing as celebrant. Burial will follow in Annunciation Cemetery, McSherrystown. Relatives and friends will be received Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home, 501 Ridge Ave, McSherrystown with prayers at 8 p.m. Contributions in memory of Yvonne may be made to the Charity of one’s choice.
