Blain L Kauffman

Blain L. Kauffman, 81, of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care Sunday, July 16, 2017 at his home. He was the husband of Helena M. (Staub) Kauffman for 56 years.  Born May 30, 1936 in Lewistown, he was the son of the late N. Blain and Esther (Grove) Kauffman.  Blain was the owner/operator of the Gulf Service Station in McSherrystown from 1964 to 1974 to which he then operated the Kauffman Auto Repair from 1974 to his retirement in 2013. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hanover, the KKOA (Kustom Kemps of America) to which he was inducted into their Hall of Fame in 1988 and served as vice president for 29 years and show promoter. He was a 1954 graduate of East Donegal High School and served proudly in the US Air Force from 1955 to 1959 serving in the Korean Conflict. Blain enjoyed driving and showing his customized 1956 Mercury, “The Green Duchess” at many car shows in many states and spending time with his family and friends.  Surviving in addition to his wife are five children; Blaine Kauffman II, Dain Kauffman and wife Kimberly, Anne Wiles and husband Ken and Corbin Kauffman all of Hanover and Elsa Kauffman of Sarasota, FL, seven grandchildren; Olivia and Victoria Kauffman, Dain Kauffman II, Jeremiah, Elisabeth, Sarah and Josiah Wiles, two siblings; Dolores Wingert and husband Eber of Greencastle and J. Earl Kauffman and wife Kate of FL.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, July 20, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hanover with Rev. Ryan M. Fischer as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hanover with military honors provided by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard. Friends and relatives will be received Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home, 501 Ridge Avenue, McSherrystown and Thursday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the church.  Serving as pallbearers will be; Eber Wingert, J. Earl Kauffman, Daniel Staub, Michael Atkinson, Dain Kauffman II and Jeremiah Wiles.  Contributions in memory of Blain may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5055 Grandview Road, Hanover, PA 17331 or KKOA Hall of Fame, c/o Jerry Titus, 26 Main St, Cassville, MO 65625.
