Joseph E. Yealy

Joseph E. Yealy, 67, of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at the York Hospital. He met his special person in his life in high school and married Donna Overbaugh on August 10, 1968. Born July 10, 1949 in Hanover, he was the son of the late Frederick W. “Fritz” and Genevieve M. (Smith) Yealy. Joe was the owner/operator of Yealco Tool Works, Inc., Hanover for the past 30 years and previously worked at Elsner Engineering Works, Black & Decker and Littlestown Hardware and Foundry. He was a 1967 graduate of Delone Catholic High School, McSherrystown and served his apprenticeship at B & D Tool and Die. Joe was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hanover, the Lucky 7 Hunting Camp in Clinton County, York-Adams Fish & Game, American Legion Post 14, NRA, Kettle Creek-Tamarack Sportsman’s Association and a veteran of the US Army. Joe was a hard worker with many talents and skills and had a great satisfaction designing and building tools and machinery. He enjoyed spending time at the hunting camp with his hunting buddies, high school classmate luncheons, spending time at family gatherings and reunions and especially spending time with his grandchildren and passing his wisdom on to them. Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters; Michelle Blouse and husband Jeffrey of Hanover and Patricia Moffitt and husband Bryan of Glenville, 3 grandchildren; Kayla and Matthew Blouse and Hunter Moffitt, 3 siblings; Fred W. Yealy Jr. of Brooksville, FL, Julia A. “Judy” Wilke of McSherrystown and Peggy L. Overbaugh of Hudson FL. He was preceded in death by a sister; Genny Ann Yealy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m., Friday, May 5, 2017 at Annunciation Catholic Church, McSherrystown with Rev. Charles L. Persing and Rev. Charles Ocul as concelebrants. Burial will follow in Annunciation Cemetery, McSherrystown with military honors provided by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard. Friends and relatives will be received Thursday, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home, 501 Ridge Avenue, McSherrystown with a prayer service at 8 p.m. Contributions in memory of Joe may be made to Annunciation BVM Catholic Church Memorial Fund, 26 N.
