Edward H. Krug Jr., 91, of Hanover, passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2017, at the Hanover Hospital. He was the husband of Idella J. (Sanders) Krug and the late Helen V. (Wentz) Krug, who died April 18, 1958. Born June 4, 1925 in Mt. Wolf, he was the son of the late Edward H. Krug Sr. and Amanda E. (Miller) Krug. Ed was retired from Hall’s Motor Freight, where he was a truck driver for many years. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II in the 3rd Infantry Regiment - 106th Division. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Hanover, Hanover Moose, Hanover Eagles, Hanover American Legion, Littlestown VFW, Fairfield Amvets, Adams County 40/8, McSherrystown Fish & Game, McSherrystown Home Association, New Oxford Social Club, South Mountain Fish & Game, Path Valley Stag Club, PA Federation of Sportsman Club, North American Hunting Club, Hickory Grove Hunting Club, and Minnequa Social Club in Shippensburg. Surviving in addition to his wife are three children, Paula Martz and companion Luis Gutierrez of East Berlin, Michael Krug and fiancé Donna Lane of Buchanan Valley, and Dwight Krug and his wife Diane of Shippensburg; five step-children, Paul Gebhart, Janet Sanders, Barbara Rogers, Loretta Douglas and Nicholas Gebhart; five grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; two siblings, Maurice and Earl Krug. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Dwight D. Krug Jr.; and three siblings, Daniel Krug, Patricia Buchen, and Esther Bankert. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at Murphy Funeral Home, 501 Ridge Ave., McSherrystown, with Rev. Joseph F. Gotwalt officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery in Hanover with military honors provided by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard. Friends and relatives will be received Tuesday from 6 to 8 pm at the funeral home.
