William R. Buehrle

William R. “Butch” Buehrle, 71, of Hanover, passed away peacefully, Sunday, November 20, 2016 at the Brethren Home Community in New Oxford. He was the husband of Joan L. (Kuhn) Buehrle, his wife of 48 years. Born November 26, 1944 in Newberg, NY, he was the son of the late William R. and Mardine C. (Rickrode) Buehrle. Butch was retired from Hanover Foods with over 30 years of service. He was 1962 graduate of Delone Catholic High School in McSherrystown and a veteran of the United States Air Force serving during Vietnam. Butch was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Hanover, where he helped run bingo for many years, the American Legion in Hanover and was a charter member of Commador 64 Computer Club. Surviving in addition to his wife are eight children, David Buehrle and his wife Carla Colson of New Market, MD, Jennifer Frazier and her husband Robert, and Gregory Buehrle and his wife Amy Stoltzfus, all of Hanover, Katie Fulford of Biloxi, MS, Cynthia Laughman and her husband Steve of Spring Grove, Jessica Buehrle of Biloxi, MS, Dr. Charles Buehrle and his wife Caroline of Hanover, and Robert Buehrle and his wife Shannon of Abbottstown; twenty-three grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and two siblings, Catherine Buehrle of Mt. Joy and Scott Buehrle and his wife Shirley of Hanover. He was preceded in death by a sister Christine Shuffler. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, November 26, 2016 at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 220 Third St., Hanover, with Rev. Michael P. Reid as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Vincent Cemetery, Hanover with military honors provided by Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard. Friends and relatives will be received Friday, 6 to 8 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home, 501 Ridge Ave., McSherrystown, with a prayer service at 8 p.m. Serving as pallbearers will be; David, Greg, Charles and Robert Buehrle, Bob Frazier, and Steve Laughman. Contributions in memory of Butch may be made to St. Vincent Church, 220 Third St., Hanover, PA 17331.
