David G. Reigle

David G. “Butch” Reigle, 74, of Hanover entered into God’s eternal care Wednesday, October 26, 2016, at home with his family by his side. He was a loving and wonderful husband to Joan (Heller) Reigle to whom he was married 43 years. Born October 28, 1941 in Hanover, he was the son of the late Paul and Sarah (Worley) Reigle. Dave was retired from Iron Workers Local #201 in Washington D.C. after 33 years of service and from Masterbrands in Littlestown. He was a 1959 graduate of Eichelberger High School, a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Hanover and a former member at St. Paul Lutheran Church in McSherrystown until its closure in 2011. He was a member of S.A.V.E.S., the McSherrystown Senior Center and a life member of the VFW in Hanover. Dave proudly served as a Sgt in the 24th Infantry Division of the Army during the Vietnam Era and was stationed in Augsburg and West Berlin, Germany. He was an avid Penn State football fan, enjoyed restoring his 1960 Ford Thunderbird, furniture restoration and reading about history especially the Civil War. Dave had a great personality and enjoyed spending time with family and friends especially his grandchildren. Dave was a caring and terrific father to three children; Wayne P. Noel and his wife Sue of Hanover, Daniel Noel and his wife Tammy of Abbottstown, and Sharon Noel of Hanover, three grandchildren; Philip, David and Rachel Noel, and one great-grandson; Tyler Noel, two sisters; Mary Ann Thomas and her husband Edgar and Pauline Hunter all of Hanover. He will be sadly missed by his dog Katie. A Celebration of Life service will be held 2:30 p.m. Saturday, October 29, 2016 at Murphy Funeral Home, 501 Ridge Ave., McSherrystown with Rev. Kirk Griffin officiating. Burial will follow at Christ Church Cemetery, Littlestown with military honors provided by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard. Friends and relatives will be received Saturday 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be Wayne, Daniel, Philip and David Noel, Brent Hunter and Brad Sterner. I'm so sorry for your loss. Dave was a good friend of mine and we use to pal around together after we graduated from school and then I lost contact. He is now with the Lord and at peace. I know he was a great husband, father and grandfather. He will be missed greatly. My prayers are with the family at this time of loss.
