Richard L. Pascoe

Richard L. “Jim” Pascoe, 78, of Irishtown, passed away peacefully, Sunday, October 2, 2016 at Golden Living Center, Gettysburg, with his family by his side. He was the husband of Lena Mae (Smith) Pascoe to whom he was married 50 years.  Born September 26, 1938 in McSherrystown, he was the son of the late Roy C. and Catherine G. (Staub) Pascoe.  Jim was retired from H.M. Kelly Trucking with over 30 years of service. He was a member of Sacred Heart Basilica, Edgegrove, a member of the Catholic War Veterans, Bonneauville, and a life member of McSherrystown Fish and Game Association and the Irishtown Fire Company. Jim proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the Army. He enjoyed his career driving truck, hunting, going to the cabin, mowing grass, Friday night gatherings with his trucking friends and spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving in addition to his wife are four children; Louann Boyer and her husband Carl, Edward Pascoe and his wife Paula and Amy Baumgardner and her husband Gary L. all of Hanover and Steve Pascoe and his wife Kelly of McSherrystown, eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren, four siblings; Raymond H. Pascoe and his wife Dottie of Leverett, MA, Mary Jane Murray and her husband Patrick of Hanover, Sally Ann and Robert “Lee” Pascoe both of McSherrystown. He was preceded in death by a sister; Peggy Marie McIntire.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, October 6 at Sacred Heart Basilica, 30 Basilica Drive, Hanover, with Rev. Joseph F. Gotwalt as celebrant. Following mass military honors will be provided at the church by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard. Burial will be private. Friends and relatives will be received Wednesday, 6 to 8 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home, 501 Ridge Avenue, McSherrystown with prayers at 8 p.m.  Contributions in memory of Jim may be made to; Irishtown Fire Company, 934 Irishtown Road, New Oxford, PA 17350.

Lena Mae & Family I am so sorry I did not know that Jim passed away or I would have been there for your family and the Funeral Mass. I am sitting here in shock as I was looking at the Murphy's Obit's and just told Nancy about it as we did not see it in any of the papers ,as you know growing up together we were the closest of friends and I feel the sorrow in my heart for you.
