Allen G. Hartlaub

Allen G. Hartlaub, 81, of Hanover, passed away Saturday, September 17, 2016, at his home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Gloria L. (Topper) Hartlaub for 58 years.  Born August 31, 1935 in Bonneauville, he was the son of the late Roy and Mary (Spangler) Hartlaub.  Allen was retired from SKF Industries in Hanover. He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Hanover, the McSherrystown Fish and Game Assoc. and was a veteran of the US Army. Allen enjoyed going to auctions and expanding his owl collection, and spending time with his family and friends especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Surviving in addition to his wife are four children, Steven Hartlaub and his wife Michelle of Spring Grove, Lori Hartlaub, Elaine Rife and her husband Joe all of Hanover, and Jeffrey Hartlaub and his wife Lisa of New Oxford; seven grandchildren, Kayla, Kasi, Crystal, Greg, Justin, Brady and Kori; two great-grandchildren, Nate and Genna; four brothers, Roy Hartlaub of VA, Ray Hartlaub of NC, William Hartlaub of TX and Dean Hartlaub of Hanover. He is also survived by a dear neighbor, Emily.  The funeral service and burial will be held privately.  Contributions in memory of Allen may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Mrs Hartlaub,Steve,Lori,Elaine,Jeff & family, We are very sorry to hear of the passing of Mr. Hartlaub. He was a very kind man that always had a smile on his face & a nice word for everyone he met. I will never forget the fun times as a kid hanging out at the Hartlaubs with my older brothers. Please know that all of you are in our thoughts & prayers.
