John M. Clabaugh

John M. Clabaugh, Jr., 87, of Bonneauville, entered into God’s eternal care Sunday, August 21, 2016, at the Hanover Hospital with his family by his side. He was the husband of Barbara A. (Hagerman) Clabaugh to whom he was married 64 years.  Born May 4, 1929 in Bonneauville, he was the son of the late John M. Clabaugh Sr. and Anna A. (Sanders) Clabaugh.  John retired from bricklaying after 45 years and was a lifelong farmer. He was a 1947 graduate of Delone Catholic High School and a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Bonneauville. He was a member of the Catholic War Veterans, Bonneauville and the McSherrystown Fish and Game Association. John proudly served his country in the Army during the Korean War and was a recipient of the Bronze Star Medal. He was an avid Philadelphia sports fan especially the Eagles and Phillies and also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.  Surviving in addition to his wife are seven children; Deb Carr and her husband Wayne of Littlestown; Karen Noel and her husband Roger of New Oxford; Brenda Mummert and her husband Doug of Bonneauville; Steph Grim and her husband John of Hanover; Brad Clabaugh and his wife Kim of Bonneauville; Annette Orndorff and her husband Mark of Hanover and Duane Clabaugh and his companion Holly Smith of Bonneauville, 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, one brother; James A. Clabaugh of Hanover and one sister; Ann Sneeringer of Bonneauville. He was preceded in death by a son; Brian J. Clabaugh, two grandchildren; Jill and Christopher Carr, six brothers; Bernard, Robert, Clarence, Guy, Joseph and Francis Clabaugh, and three sisters; Mildred Bowling, Mary Selby and Helen Oaster.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Bonneauville with Rev. Peter E. DiTomasso as celebrant. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.  Friends and relatives will be received Wednesday 9:30 to 11 a.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Church.  Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons; Cory Carr, Jeremy Noel, Josh Mummert, Matt Grim, Luke Clabaugh and Taylor Orndorff.  Contributions in memory of John may be made to St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 12 Hanover Street, Gettysburg, PA 17325.
