Richard E. “Dick” Fissel, 82, of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care Tuesday, June 28, 2016, at the York Hospital. He was the husband of Romaine S. (Zumbrum) Fissel to whom he was married 55 years. Born January 2, 1934 in Hanover, he was the son of the late William H. Fissel Sr. and Mary E. (Flemming) Fissel. Dick was a member of New Hope Faith Community, Hanover, and a life member of Parkville Fire Co. He proudly served in the US Army. Dick worked 40 years in car sales, his early years in several car dealerships in the Hanover area prior to opening Dick Fissel Auto Sales. He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving in addition to his wife are two children; Rick L. Fissel and his wife Steph of Hanover and Jeff L. Fissel and his wife Tania of York-New Salem, seven grandchildren; Nathaniel, Kristin, Brian, Jackie, Daniel, Alexander and Robert, five great-grandchildren; Audrinia, Gia, Braelyn, Dylan and Mason. He was preceded in death by seven siblings; Florence Black, Nadine Garrett, Marion Becker, Helena Lau, Jean Stremmel, Betty Garrett and William H. Fissel Jr. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, July 1, 2016 at Murphy Funeral Home, 501 Ridge Avenue, McSherrystown with Pastor Timothy Kielley officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover. Friends and relatives will be received Thursday 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday 12 noon to the time of the service at the funeral home. Contributions in memory of Dick may be made to New Hope Faith Community, 33 Sunday Drive, Hanover, PA 17331.

Dick was a great person who I got to know when I was working in car sales and auto detail and will be greatly missed my deepest sympathy goes out to the family
