Gerard A. Yealy

Gerard A. “Jerry” Yealy, 77, of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care Monday, May 2, 2016, at the Hanover Hospital. He was the husband of Mary C. (Hahn) Yealy to whom he was married 56 years. Born February 1, 1939 in Hanover, he was the son of the late Helen (Yealy) Bowman and step-son of Kenneth Bowman. Jerry retired from Delone Catholic High School in McSherrystown and was previously employed at Black & Decker for 25 years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Basilica in Edgegrove and was a 1958 graduate of Delone Catholic High School. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, stamp collecting, and spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving in addition to his wife are three children; Brian Yealy and his wife Lynn of McSherrystown, Jeanette Winand and her companion Douglas Zartman of Thomasville, and Karen Yealy and her companion Joe Ruth of Hanover; three grandchildren, Jesse Winand, Jennifer Yealy, and Christopher Yealy; two great-grandchildren, Alexander Winand and Nolan Winand; his brother in-law, Allen Hahn and his wife Jane; and two nephews, Randy and Todd Hahn. He was preceded in death by a son Jeffrey Yealy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Friday, May 6, 2016 at Sacred Heart Basilica in Edgegrove, with Rev. Joseph R. Howard as celebrant. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Relatives and friends will be received 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at Murphy Funeral Home, 501 Ridge Avenue McSherrystown, with a prayer service held at 8pm. Contributions in memory of Jerry made be made to Delone Music Department, 140 S. Oxford Ave., McSherrystown, PA 17344.

I am so sorry to hear of Jerry's death. We had a couple of great visits in the past 6 months--so glad that we re-connected. You will have many great memories of your husband, father and grandfather to hold close to you.
