Diane L. Groft

Diane L. Groft, 61, of Gettysburg, entered into God’s eternal care, Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at the York Hospital. She was the companion of Richard E. Reese. Born January 22, 1955 in Hanover, she was the daughter of Mary E. (Krise) Groft of Edgegrove and the late Eugene G. Groft. Diane was retired from Golden Living Nursing Center in Gettysburg. She was a graduate of Delone Catholic High School in McSherrystown and a member of Sacred Heart Basilica in Edgegrove. Diane enjoyed going to Ocean City and especially spending time with her family and friends. Surviving in addition to her mother and companion are two children; Chris Reese of Gettysburg and Sherry Reese of Etters, four siblings; Jeanne M. Fradiska and her husband Jim of York, Larry E. Groft and his wife Jan, Gerald R. Groft and his wife Donna all of Hanover, and Ronald J. Groft and his wife Janene of Lafayette, IN. and numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, February 29, 2016 at Murphy Funeral Home, 501 Ridge Avenue, McSherrystown, with Rev. Joseph R. Howard officiating. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Edgegrove. Friends and relatives will be received Sunday 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Contributions in memory of Diane may be made to: VNA, 440 N. Madison St., Hanover, PA 17331.

Even though you did not bare us at birth, you accepted Chris and I as your own. Thank you for the wonderful memories and everything you did for us. Di, you had a heart of gold, you did anything for anyone and asked for nothing in return. I held your hand as you passed, and a piece of my heart went with you, but I know you are at peace, free from the pain and suffering. You have your wings now, so fly high with the angels!! I bet you and Ernie are having a wonderful time !! Rest in Peace "mum" !! Love you always !!

I worked with Diane many many years ago at Hanover Hall. When I was diagnosed with breast cancer, she was one of the first ones there for me! She had a heart of gold. My thoughts and prayers for her family, who she loved dearly!!
