William Edgar Woodring

William Edgar Woodring, 87, of Littlestown, entered into God’s eternal care, Monday, February 1, 2016 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was the loving husband of Rosie M. (Berger) Woodring who died November 28, 2005.  Born December 20, 1928 in Adams County, he was the son of the late Blanche E. (Woodring) Huff.  William retired from Hanover Shoe Mfg. in 1996 after 13 years of service and was previously employed at Cambridge Rubber Co. in Arendtsville with 35 years of service. He was a lifelong farmer and was the custodian at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, McSherrystown for 53 years. He was a member of the Life Discovery Church-Assembly of God, McSherrystown, formerly St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. He was a good cook and enjoyed hunting, butchering, and making soups at the church. He was very creative with woodworking, mechanics and was very good at taking care of his animals. He enjoyed going to auctions and especially spending time with his family and friends.  Surviving are three daughters; Mary Zinn and her husband James of New Oxford, Judy Reese, Martha Warring and her husband Robert all of Hanover, two sons; David Woodring and his wife Betty of Hanover and William Woodring II and his wife Lovetta of Petersburg, WV, 8 grandchildren; Anna Ruppert, Jeffrey Crossley, Robert Warring, Angel Warring, TerriAnn Woodring, Tammy Reese, Crystal O’Quinn and James Zinn II, 2 step-grandchildren; Kathy Kismore and Robert Linton, 9 great-grandchildren; HollyAnn Ruppert, Cody Ruppert, Nicholas Reese, Shannon Hawkins, Leana O’Quinn, Kayden O’Quinn, Braden Warring, Vance Zinn and Dylan Zinn and 4 step great-grandchildren; Chris Wilson, Miranda Largent, Nathan Linton and Zachery Linton.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, February 5, 2016 at Murphy Funeral Home, 501 Ridge Ave., McSherrystown, with Pastor Jeffery Dietrich officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover. Friends and relatives will be received Thursday 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.  Contributions in memory of William may be made to: Life Discovery Church - Assembly of God, 414Main St., McSherrystown, PA 17344.
