Thomas A. Miller

Thomas A. “Zeke” Miller, 60, of McSherrystown, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of Sharon C. “Oscar” (Reed) Miller, his wife of 42 ½ years. Born August 30, 1955 in Hanover, he was the son of Mary J. (Lawrence) Miller of McSherrystown and the late James D. “Jake” Miller. Tom was employed at Hanover Foods Corp. with over 40 years of service. He was a 1973 graduate of Delone Catholic High School in McSherrystown, a member of Annunciation Catholic Church in McSherrystown, McSherrystown Moose and Rookie Hunting Camp. Tom was a life member of McSherrystown Home Assoc. and New Oxford Social Club. He enjoyed being in the outdoors and spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren. Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are four children; Christine M. O’Hara and husband Todd of Hanover, Debbie A. Spear and husband Mitch of Middletown, Mary A. Hartlaub and husband Tommy of Hanover and Thomas J. Miller and wife Jessica of New Oxford; his “adopted” daughter, Krystal Bealing; 10 grandchildren; Jake and Joey Spear, Grace and Nick O’Hara, Olivia and Morgan Hartlaub, Aubrey, Riley, Clayton and Wyatt Miller; 8 siblings, Rev. C. Anthony Miller of Lykens, Timothy P. Miller of Gettysburg, James W. Miller of Hanover, David P. Miller of Spring Grove, Colleen Walters, Rosemary Wilson and Nancy Jane Staub all of Hanover and Teresa Beatty of McSherrystown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Monday, December 7, 2015 at Annunciation Church in McSherrystown, with his brother Rev. C. Anthony Miller and Rev. Charles L. Persing concelebrating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery and after the burial a reception will be held at Brushtown Athletic Assoc., 5603 Hanover Road, Hanover, PA. Relatives and friends will be received Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home, 501 Ridge Ave., McSherrystown with a prayer service at 4 p.m. Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Slusser, Eric Slusser, Jimmy Miller, Joel Miller, Nick Beatty, Sean Miller, Aaron Wilson and Alex Staub. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Tom may be made to; Annunciation School Tuition Fund, 316 North St. McSherrystown, PA 17344 or Delone Catholic High School Tuition Fund, 140 S. Oxford Ave. McSherrystown, PA 17344.
