Michael A. Redding

Michael A. Redding, 71, of Hanover, entered into his final journey home, on Friday, September 11, 2015, at his residence. He was the husband of Joan M. (Hemler) Redding to whom he was married 49 years. Born February 12, 1944 in Gettysburg, he was the son of the late Carroll J. and Virginia L. (Bly) Redding. Michael was a graduate of Gettysburg High School and retired from Precision Components Corp. in York. He was a member of the Pennsylvania National Guard and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hanover. Michael led a life of sacrifice and dedication to faith, family and education, and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Mark A. Redding and his wife Tien Vu of Arlington, VA and Craig M. Redding and his wife Tammy of Hanover; and 13 siblings, C. David, Virginia L., Riley, Stephen W., Timothy J., Sally A., Cynthia M., Phylliss E., Margaret E. and Matthew A. Redding, Kathleen S. Ross, Deborah J. Redding-Arnold and Sharon E. Hamm; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Loring C. Redding. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 am Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at St. Joseph Church, 5125 Grandview Road, Hanover with Rev. Ryan M. Fischer as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Vincent Cemetery, Hanover. Relatives and friends will be received at the church Wednesday from 9 to 10 am. Contributions in memory of Michael may be made to Catholic Relief Services, 228 W. Lexington St. Baltimore, MD 21201.

I remember Michael for the kindness he bestowed on everyone he met. He was a good, gentle and faith-filled child of God. My thoughts, prayers and sincere sympathy are extended to his family.
