Francis E. Topper

Francis E. Topper, 70, of McSherrystown, entered into God’s eternal care Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at the Hanover Hospital. He was the husband of Donna L. (Stormes) Topper to whom he was married 50 years. Born March 22, 1945 in Hanover, he was the son of the late Charles W. and Lillian L. (Hockensmith) Topper. Frank retired from James Craft & Sons Plumbing and Heating in York Haven and continued to work part time at Colours Paint in Bonneauville. He was a 1964 graduate of Delone Catholic High School in McSherrystown and a member of Annunciation Catholic Church, McSherrystown. Frank was a life member of the McSherrystown Home Assoc. and McSherrystown Fish and Game Assoc. where he taught the hunter education classes. He was also a member of Green Springs Rod and Gun Club holding the office of Recording Secretary, the CWV-Bonneauville, Hanover Republican Club, and New Oxford Social Club. In his spare time when he wasn’t taking care of his horses you would find him umpiring one of the local softball games.   He was a member of and officiated for more than 25 years with PIAA and ASA (American Softball Assoc.) and especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Surviving in addition to his wife are two children; Bonnie Zinneman and her husband Steven of Hanover and Frankie Topper and his wife Lacey of East Berlin, four grandchildren; Brittany and Aaron Zinneman, Elissa and Avery Watkins, one great-grandson; Laden Zinneman and a sister Rose Carpenter of East Berlin. He was preceded in death by a grandson; Steven A. Zinneman Jr. and four siblings; Lillian Ball, Charles, George and Steve Topper. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Annunciation Catholic Church, McSherrystown with Rev. Charles L. Persing as celebrant. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends and relatives will be received Friday 6 to 8 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home, 501 Ridge Avenue, McSherrystown with prayers at 8 p.m. Serving as pallbearers will be; Frankie Topper, Aaron Zinneman, Steve Zinneman, Dave Loss, Chuck Topper and Doug Laugherman. Frank was a wonderful man he is going to big missed so much by so many. We will truly miss him out at the farm with the horses.
